The Real Problem

Why Good Businesses Lose Funding

If you have ever submitted an application for a loan or a grant and heard nothing back, it is worth understanding what happened on the other side of that desk.

Funders — whether a commercial bank in Lagos, the Bank of Industry, a CBN intervention scheme, a venture fund, or a European donor programme — do not read your plan looking for inspiration. They read it looking for reasons to say no. A missing cash flow statement is a reason. Projections that do not reconcile with your stated assumptions are a reason. A market section with no data in it is a reason. Formatting that does not follow their published template is, very often, a reason.

Most plans fail on these mechanical grounds long before anyone forms a view about whether the business itself is any good. That is the frustrating part: your idea may never have been assessed at all.

What we actually do. We build the plan backwards from the funder. We start by identifying exactly who you are submitting to, what their evaluation criteria are, and what format they require — then we write to that. It is a less glamorous approach than a beautifully designed generic document, and it is the reason our plans get read properly.

Why our pricing is on this page

Very few consulting firms in Nigeria publish what they charge. We decided to, for a simple reason: it respects your time. You should be able to work out whether we are affordable before investing an hour in a phone call. If our Starter package is the right fit for you, we would rather you know that now — and if a cheaper provider genuinely suits your situation better, you should be free to reach that conclusion without sitting through a sales pitch first.

Which Plan Do You Need?

Match the Plan to the Purpose

The single biggest cause of wasted money on business plans is buying more depth than the purpose requires — or less. Find your situation below.

🏦

Applying for a Commercial Bank Loan

Nigerian banks want to see repayment capacity above everything else. A clean 3-year cash flow, realistic revenue assumptions and clear collateral position matter far more than a long narrative.

Recommended: Starter — ₦180,000
🏛️

BOI, CBN or SMEDAN Intervention Funds

These schemes have prescribed formats and specific eligibility thresholds. Applications are frequently rejected purely on non-compliance with the template rather than on the merits of the business.

Recommended: Investor-Ready — ₦350,000
🚀

Raising from Angels or Venture Capital

Equity investors care about the size of the opportunity, unit economics and how they eventually exit. They will read your financial model line by line, and they will ask about your assumptions.

Recommended: Investor-Ready or Premium
🌍

EU, USAID, GIZ or World Bank Programmes

Donor applications require logical frameworks, results matrices, procurement compliance and reporting structures that look nothing like a commercial business plan. This is specialist work.

Recommended: Donor & DFI-Grade — from ₦850,000
🏗️

Large Capital Projects

Manufacturing plants, agro-processing facilities, real estate developments. These need scenario analysis, sensitivity testing and a defensible valuation — because a lot of money rests on the numbers.

Recommended: Premium — ₦550,000

Just Starting Out

You have an idea and want to think it through properly before committing money. A plan is useful here, but a feasibility check may be the smarter first spend.

Questions

What Clients Usually Ask

How much does a business plan cost in Nigeria?
Across the Nigerian market, professionally written business plans range from roughly ₦100,000 to over ₦2,000,000. The variation comes down to purpose and depth — a plan for a small local loan requires far less work than one prepared for an international investor or a development finance institution. Our packages are ₦180,000 (Starter), ₦350,000 (Investor-Ready) and ₦550,000 (Premium), with donor and DFI-grade plans from ₦850,000. Be careful with very cheap plans: a weak plan is the most common reason funding applications fail, and re-doing it costs more than doing it properly once.
How long does it take to write a business plan?
10 working days for Starter, 14 for Investor-Ready, 21 for Premium. The timeline starts when we receive your deposit and the information we requested — not when you first make contact. If you are on a tighter deadline, rush delivery is available at a 25–50% premium depending on how compressed the schedule is.
What information do you need from me?
For a first draft we typically need: your CAC registration, a description of what the business does and who it sells to, your current financials if the business is trading, your intended use of the funding, and — most importantly — the name of the specific funder or programme you are applying to, plus their guidelines if you have them. We send a structured questionnaire so nothing is missed.
Will you guarantee I get the funding?
No. Any consultant who guarantees a funding outcome is either misleading you or implying something improper. What we commit to is a plan that is complete, compliant, internally consistent and professionally argued — one that will not be rejected on technical grounds. The decision itself sits with the funder. If we review your position and think you are not yet fundable, we will say so before taking your money.
Can you help with my compliance documents too?
Yes, and for government tenders this often matters more than the plan itself. Missing tax clearance, PENCOM, ITF, NSITF or BPP registration will disqualify a bid regardless of how well written it is. Our Tender Eligibility Audit (₦90,000) checks every document a procurement officer will demand.
Is the financial model editable?
Yes. Investor-Ready and Premium packages include a live Excel model, not a static table pasted into a document. You can change your pricing, volumes, costs or growth assumptions and watch the projections update. Investors frequently ask "what happens if you only hit half these numbers?" — with the model open, you can answer in real time.
Do you sign a confidentiality agreement?
Yes, on request and before you share anything sensitive. Your figures, strategy and customer information stay confidential. We also never reuse client material in another client's plan.
Where are you based, and do you work remotely?
Our office is at 16 Nkwere Street, Area 11, Abuja. We work with clients across Nigeria and internationally, entirely remotely where preferred — by email, phone, WhatsApp and video call. In-person meetings in Abuja are welcome by appointment.
